LAHORE, Jan 2: The Punjab Health Department has appointed faculty members for the newly-established medical colleges in the province.
Also, the district headquarters hospitals concerned have been attached with the medical colleges as teaching hospitals.
A handout issued on Sunday said Health Secretary Fawad Hassan Fawad had issued notification of Prof Dr Tanvir Ali Khan Sherwani’s appointment as Sialkot Medical College principal. The other members of the faculty are Prof Dr Shahzaman Latif, Prof Dr Liaquat Ali, Assistant Professor Dr Ibrahim Khan, Dr Ijaz Anwar, Dr Khawar Iqbal, Dr Abdul Rehman and Dr Faraz Qadeer.
Prof Dr Zameer Ahmad has been appointed Sahiwal Medical College principal. The other members of the faculty are Prof Dr Shahbaz Ashfaq, Prof Dr Ishtiaq Ahmad, Associate Professor Dr Bashir Ahmad Janjua and Assistant Professor Dr Shafiqur Rehman.
Dr Razia Rizwan, Dr Shahbaz Sharif, Dr Shafqat Rasool, Dr Rizwan Ahmad, Dr Saima Naz, Dr Arrona Khalid, Dr Shabbir Hussain, Dr Amina Safdar, Dr Samina Kausar and Dr Madeeha Chaudhry are demonstrators.
At the Gujranwala Medical Collage, Prof Dr Atia Mubarak has been named principal while the faculty members are assistant professors Dr Muhammad Amin, Dr Alamgir Rana and Dr Saqib Suhail.
Dr Nasir Majeed, Dr Hifza Ryasat, Dr Muhammad Ikram, Dr Umer Aslam, Dr Asifa Ashraf, Dr Noorul Mubin and Dr Madeeha Rehman are demonstrators.
The department has attached Allama Iqbal Memorial and Sardar Begum hospitals with the Sialkot Medical College and they have been given the status of teaching hospitals.
Similarly, the Gujranwala DHQ Hospital has been attached with the Gujranwala Medical College. The Sahiwal DHQ and Haji Abdul Qayyum Memorial hospitals have been given the status of teaching hospitals and attached with the Sahiwal Medical College.
According to the notification, the first-year students of the Dera Ghazi Khan Medical College will study at the Quaid-i-Azam Medical College, Bahawalpur and will be shifted to DG Khan campus after its completion.
